EDAG has evolved from automating the development of individual electric motor components toward enabling automated concept development for powertrain subsystems such as batteries, electric drives and power electronics. Building on a basis of modular automation workflows, these capabilities are increasingly enriched with advanced AI approaches (e.g. requirements analysis and knowledge extraction from regulatory documents). As these automation modules mature, they progressively evolve into agents able to collaborate across disciplines. The next step is the orchestration of these agents into a cohesive multi‑agent system that can plan, reason, and execute engineering tasks with minimal human intervention. This shift marks a transformation from tool-driven automation to AI‑orchestrated engineering ecosystems.
